Special NPG MUSIC CLUB Edition Welcome 2 another edition of the 777 Update, a Prince Fan Newz Update not affiliated with Paisley Park, NPG Records, Warner Brothers Records, the NPG Music Club or NPGonline in any way, shape or form. Since the last Update, a lot of things have taken shape -- tour dates, TV performances, magazine stories, Celebration newz(?). So why not skip the intro and get right down to it. And for you L.A. Newz item #1-Hit N Run Tour 2001 kicks off in Atlanta; Mini-Tour set - Tour Dates and Venues story provided by NPGEN Announced just last week, Prince sold out 2 dates (April 14th & 15th) at the Atlanta Civic Center. The set list is exactly the same as the Hit n Run shows from last year, with the exception of three new songs - "U Make My Sun Shine", "Daisy Chain,"& "The Work, Pt.1." Opening acts are Millennia and the Fonky Baldheads. We heard that the second Atlanta gig opened up with "Paisley Park", which is quite rare. We wonder what other rare and classic joints Prince might dust off as the tour rolls on? For sale at the venues are new singles - "SuperCute" w/ "Underneath the Cream," "The Daisy Chain" w/ "Gamillah," and "Peace" w/ "Radical Man 2045." Plus for the first time, you can buy two styles of Prince's famous cloud guitars. They are a $1,000US a piece and cash only. Does anyone carry that much money to a concert? Here is the full set of tour dates, through the end of April; (14/15) - Atlanta, GA - Atlanta Civic Center; (17) - Norfolk, VA - The NorVa; (18) - Baltimore, MD - Lyric Opera House; (19) - Wilkes-Barre, PA - First Union Arena; (21) - North Little Rock, AK - Alltel Arena; (22) - Kansas City, MO - Municipal Auditorium; (24) - Denver, CO - Magness Arena; (25) - West Valley, UT - E-Center; (27) - San Diego, CA - Cox Arena; (28) - Oakland, CA - Oakland Arena Newz item #2-Prince to appear on Tonight Show and TODAY show Prince announced on his website, N P G o n l i n e L T D, April 13th that he would be doing "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Prince wants to perform two consecutive nights on the Leno show, which has never happened before. No dates have been announced as of yet but do check local listings. We are hearing it might be aired during the first week of May. Prince will be doing "The TODAY Show" on Friday, June 22nd, 2001. It will be a performance for The TODAY Show's Summer Concert Series. The concert will be held at the Rockerfeller Center Plaza, where The TODAY Show is taped. We hope NPNY in New York gets a show or two up there. They deserve it. Newz item #3-Is there a Celebration this year? In December, the word was "yes." In February, the word was "no." In April, the word is "possibly." It has been picking up steam but that means nothing until there is an official announcement. So check N P G o n l i n e L T D for that and as soon as I know, I will let you know. We know Prince is a Gemini and does not make up his mind until the last minute, so we knew this was going to happen. Newz item #4-Prince in Magazines Besides the less than positive review of the NPGMC in INSIDE Magazine, N P G o n l i n e L T D mentioned in February these upcoming stories for the month of May - Teen People and the cover of Yahoo Internet Life! magazine's June 2001 issue. The Yahoo mag will pop on Newsstands around the first week of May. As for Teen People, no release date has been set so check your local newsstands shortly. Newz item #5-Prince Fans in the L.A. area; The BumpSquad Looks like we are not going to get our NPGMC Launch party. =-( It was taken off his website. But we are starting up an L.A.
